The six calls for this trip
- Water: fill it down thereLeave with about 10 gallons. Fill at the Westside Campground water station at Sand Hollow on the way in. A full tank is 625 lb, and this trailer has very little payload to spare once a side-by-side is in it.
- Waste tanks: emptyGray and black dumped before the drive. Dump again at Westside on the way out — there are no dump spots in the event camping areas.
- Propane: full, valves closedBoth bottles filled at home, closed while you tow. A cold, full fridge holds for the drive.
- Side-by-side: nose first, tight to the wallCentered, pulled up to a few inches from the garage's front wall, four straps to the floor anchors. A two-seat Z10 fits the 12-ft garage. A Super Villain doesn't belong in this trailer — it weighs more than the trailer can carry.
- Tongue weight: 10–15%Too light and it sways. Run the numbers on the Weight tab, then weigh it once at the North Salt Lake CAT scale on your way south.
- Tires: read the date code firstIf they're the original 2016–17 tires, replace them before this trip. Old trailer tires plus desert heat plus a full load is how blowouts happen.
Checklists
In order, from the night before to winterizing after. Tap a box to check it, tap the words for the how and why.
Specs come from KZ's 2015–2017 Sportster brochures and the RVGuide spec sheet for the 30TH12. Your trailer's own plate and yellow cargo label win wherever they differ. KZ's 2017 brochure appears to list this same floorplan as the 321THR12 (identical weights and 36′2″ length) — handy when you search for parts.
Do it the same way every time. Pick your hitch type and the list adjusts.

Setting the brake gain
Find a straight, empty road. At 20–25 mph, slide the manual trailer-brake control all the way and hold it. The right setting brakes the trailer hard, just short of locking its wheels. Wheels lock: lower the gain. Weak tug: raise it. Start around 6.0 and re-tune once the side-by-side is loaded — a heavier trailer wants more gain.
If the trailer starts to sway
- Hands steady. Hold the wheel straight — no steering corrections.
- Ease off the throttle. Don't touch the truck's brakes.
- Slide the manual trailer-brake control on gently and hold it. It pulls the trailer back in line behind you.
- Once it settles, slow down and pull off. Sway almost always means too little tongue weight (load too far back), too much speed, or low tire pressure.

How the load balances Estimate
What's going in
Calibrate with a tape measure
Two measurements turn the estimate into your trailer's real balance. Two minutes, one tape.
Will it fit?
The garage is 144 in long and 96 in tall inside. The ramp door opening is smaller — measure it.
Measure the car's real height with its light bar, antennas and whip mounts — those are what hit the door header.
Truck side
Tongue weight counts against the F-350's payload, along with everyone in the cab and everything in the bed. Payload is on the yellow sticker in the driver's door jamb.
Weigh it for real
A CAT scale settles it for about $15. Easiest way:
- Weigh the truck alone first, loaded like the trip (people, gear, fuel). Do it on the way to pick up the trailer.
- Weigh the loaded rig with the steer axle, drive axle and trailer axles each on their own platform.
- Tongue weight = truck axles hitched minus truck alone. Trailer total = tongue weight + trailer axles.
On your route: CAT scale at 24 N Redwood Rd, North Salt Lake, plus truck stops with scales at Nephi (Exit 222), Beaver (Exit 112) and Cedar City (Exit 62).
How this works: each load pushes down on the tongue or lifts it, depending on how far ahead of or behind the axles it sits. Starting point is your plate's 7,710 lb with 1,170 lb on the hitch. Car weights are factory dry weight plus a full tank: Z10 1,863 lb dry (CFMOTO), Z10-4 2,086 lb, Super Villain about 2,755 lb (gas) and 3,196 lb (hybrid) per published specs. Positions are estimates until you enter your measurements.
How to run everything on board. Your trailer's options may differ a little from the base build — the Find It tab is where you pin the real locations.
